When the “lines” are good…

I was asked a number of times over last weekend (the first weekend of our studio exhibition), why was I so interested in boats. Some of the people asking knew that I was a Canadian prairie dog, so even more questions about lack of water… My answer is pretty simple. I fell in love with the canoe as a teenager while at YMCA Camp Inuspi in Waterton Lakes in Alberta. While that is true, the exact reason for loving boats is their shape. When the “lines” are good, boats are like sculpture…think Brancusi. One person commented on the shape of my new boat chandeliers, and asked if I knew about the latest missile carrier in the US Navy. Nope. He sent me this photo (below), and wondered if they had asked me for design permission. Nope.
